We do not have any vacancies at the present time for either employed, voluntary, placement or honorary positions.
From time to time we are able to offer placements for counsellors who have, or are in the process of, completing a recognised training. We generally require volunteer counsellors to be experienced and interested in psychodynamic counselling as well as available to spend a year with The Bridge Foundation. Vacancies for placements will appear on this page.
The Bridge Foundation, a Bristol based charity providing a range of clinical and training services relating to the needs of children, young people, families and adults, occasionally has vacancies for honorary child counsellors.
This is an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified and experienced persons to join a lively and skilled team, and gain experience of working in a school setting. These posts are based at diverse and vibrant inner city Primary Schools, with children from a wide range of minority ethnic backgrounds and cultures.
We are seeking candidates with skills and experience in building therapeutic relationships with children from a breadth of social and cultural backgrounds. A professional background in education, health, mental health, or social work would be highly relevant. The successful applicant would need to demonstrate some experience of bringing psychodynamic thinking to working with children.
Equally this post would suit counsellors and therapists with an interest in developing their practice in a multi-cultural community setting. Applicants in the final year of their training will be considered depending on experience.
The posts will be for 1 – 1.5 days per week, comprised of 2-3 sessions in school (specific day to be agreed) and half a day attending a supervision group and staff meetings on Wednesday afternoons based at the Bridge Foundation.
Volunteer therapists/counsellors carry a caseload of up to 3 clinical sessions a week and will be required make a commitment to weekly work during term time for a minimum of one year.
Child protection and other relevant training is provided in line with service requirements.
Volunteers are eligible for reimbursement of some expenses incurred while delivering work for the Bridge Foundation.
Applications are invited by letter/email, including an up-to-date CV.
